Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter no xylitol
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree plain, unsweetened
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and cinnamon (if using).
  3. Add the peanut butter, pumpkin puree, applesauce, and egg to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the water, mixing until the dough comes together and is not too sticky.
  5. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the treats are golden brown and firm.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store these treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, keep them in the fridge for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months. Remember, these treats are an occasional snack, not a complete diet, and should be fed in moderation.

- Substitute whole wheat flour with oat flour for a grain-free option.
- Add mashed banana for extra flavor and sweetness.
