Ingredients

  • 1 cup canned salmon drained
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree plain, unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Cookie cutters
  • 1 Blender or food processor

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the canned salmon, pumpkin puree, chopped spinach, egg, and olive oil. Use a blender or food processor to mix until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the oat flour and whole wheat flour to the mixture, stirring until combined and a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out your favorite shapes.
  5. Place the cut-out treats on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced about an inch apart.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your pup.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. You can also freeze them for longer storage, up to 3 months. Remember, these treats are meant for occasional snacking, not as a complete diet, so treat your dog in moderation. Always consult your veterinarian if your dog has any health issues or dietary restrictions.
Variations:
- Substitute canned tuna for salmon for a different flavor.
- Add 1/4 cup of grated carrots for an extra crunch and nutrition.
- Try using different cookie cutter shapes for festive occasions.
