Ingredients

  • 1 cup canned tuna in water drained
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt unsweetened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley optional

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Fork
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Cookie cutters (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, oat flour, plain yogurt, egg, and olive oil.
  3. Mix the ingredients together with a fork until a dough forms, adding a little more oat flour if necessary. If using, stir in the dried parsley.
  4. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes or simply form small balls if preferred.
  5. Place the cutouts or balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  7. Remove the treats from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the Tuna Puff Dog Treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. For longer storage, these treats can be frozen for up to three months. Remember, these are occasional treats, not a complete diet, so feed in moderation and consult your veterinarian if your dog has any dietary restrictions.
Variations:
- Substitute canned salmon for tuna for a different flavor.
- Add a tablespoon of mashed sweet potato for extra nutrition.
- Use whole wheat flour instead of oat flour for a different texture.
