  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato cooked and cooled
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter without xylitol
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Cookie cutters
  • 1 Fork or potato masher

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato, whole wheat flour, peanut butter, egg, and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick using a rolling pin.
  4. Use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes from the rolled-out dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the treats are firm and lightly browned.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the treats cool completely on a wire rack before serving them to your dog.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or in the refrigerator for two weeks. Remember, these treats are meant as an occasional snack and should be given in moderation. Always consult your veterinarian if your dog has allergies or health concerns.
Variations:
- Add 1/2 cup of oats to the dough for added texture.
- Include 1/4 cup of shredded carrots for extra nutrition and flavor.
- Use alternative flours such as oat flour or brown rice flour for a grain-free version.
