Ingredients

  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato cooked and cooled
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon finely chopped (no added salt or seasonings)
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter unsweetened, no xylitol
  • 1 egg beaten

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Cookie cutters
  • 1 Food processor or blender

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sweet potato, chopped bacon, natural peanut butter, and beaten egg. Mix until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour to the mixture, stirring until a dough forms. You may need to use your hands to knead the dough until smooth.
  4. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the cooled biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or refrigerate them for up to two weeks. Always remember to introduce new treats gradually and consult your veterinarian if your dog has allergies or health conditions.
Variations:
- Substitute cooked chicken or turkey for bacon for a different flavor.
- Add a tablespoon of finely chopped parsley for fresh breath.
- Experiment with different cookie cutter shapes, especially for special occasions.
