Total Time 40 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup plain peanut butter no xylitol
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ripe banana mashed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon bacon-flavored dog treat seasoning optional

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Cookie cutters
  • 1 Measuring cups
  • 1 Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, peanut butter, shredded cheddar cheese, mashed banana, and water. If you're using bacon-flavored seasoning, add it here.
  3. Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour as needed.
  4. Sprinkle some flour on a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes from the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, keep them in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Remember, these treats are an occasional snack, not a complete diet, and should be fed in moderation. Always consult your veterinarian if your dog has health issues, allergies, or specific dietary needs.
Variations:
- Replace cheddar cheese with crumbled cottage cheese for a different flavor.
- Add a tablespoon of pumpkin puree for added nutrition and flavor.
- Substitute whole wheat flour with oat flour for a gluten-free option.
- Mix in some chopped spinach or carrots for added nutrients.
