Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter no xylitol
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup water as needed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon optional, in moderation

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Measuring cups
  • 1 Measuring spoons
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Dog bone cookie cutter (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and rolled oats.
  3. Add the unsweetened applesauce, natural peanut butter, and egg to the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix thoroughly until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water a tablespoon at a time until it reaches a workable consistency.
  5. Sprinkle a little flour on a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Use a dog bone cookie cutter to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack.
