Servings: 24

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup gluten-free oat flour
  • 1/2 cup mashed ripe strawberries about 4-5 strawberries
  • 1/4 cup plain peanut butter ensure it's xylitol-free
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt unsweetened
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional, for sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon water if needed for consistency

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Cookie cutters
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats and gluten-free oat flour, stirring well to combine.
  3. In another bowl, mix the mashed strawberries, peanut butter, yogurt, and egg until smooth. If you're using honey, add it to this mixture.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough begins to form. If the mixture is too dry, add a tablespoon of water as needed.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface with some oat flour. Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  6. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store these treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Remember, these are *occasional treats*, not a complete diet, and should be introduced gradually to your dog's diet. Always consult your veterinarian if your dog has health issues or dietary restrictions.
Variations:
- Substitute strawberries with blueberries or bananas for different flavors.
- Add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed for extra nutrition.
- Use pumpkin puree instead of mashed strawberries for a fall-inspired treat.
