Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain peanut butter no xylitol
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree plain, unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup apple peeled, cored, and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup water or low-sodium chicken broth

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Spoon or spatula
  • 1 Measuring cups
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Refrigerator

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, pumpkin puree, and chopped apple, stirring until well mixed.
  2. Gradually add the rolled oats to the mixture, continuing to stir until all the oats are fully coated.
  3. If the mixture is too dry, add water or chicken broth a little at a time, until the mixture is moist but not sticky.
  4. Once the mixture is well combined, scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and shape them into balls or patties.
  5. Place the shaped treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Put the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 1 to 2 hours, allowing the treats to firm up before serving.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Remember, these treats are an occasional snack and should not replace a complete diet. Always introduce new treats gradually and consult your veterinarian if your dog has health issues or dietary restrictions.
Variations:
- Substitute pumpkin puree with mashed sweet potato for a different flavor.
- Add 1/4 cup of shredded carrots for extra nutrition.
- Include a tablespoon of plain yogurt for added creaminess.
