- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In the mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, mashed banana, and natural peanut butter until well blended.
- Add the egg and mix until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the whole wheat flour, stirring until a dough begins to form.
- If the dough is too dry, add water a tablespoon at a time until it reaches a workable consistency.
- Optionally, mix in the cinnamon to add a little extra flavor.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use dog bone-shaped cookie cutters to cut out the treats and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
Storage & Reheating:
Store the treats in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, you can freeze the treats for up to 3 months. Remember, these are occasional snacks, not a complete diet, and consult your veterinarian if your dog has any health issues or allergies. Variations:
- Substitute whole wheat flour with oat flour for a gluten-free option.
- Replace pumpkin with sweet potato puree for a different flavor.
- Add 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce for added moisture and flavor.
