Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain pumpkin puree unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter no xylitol
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon optional

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Cookie cutters
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 Cooling rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the *pumpkin puree*, *natural peanut butter*, *egg*, and *olive oil*. Mix until well combined.
  3. Gradually add in the *whole wheat flour* and *rolled oats*, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little water until it holds together.
  4. Sprinkle a clean surface with flour and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Use cookie cutters to cut out treats in your desired shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  7. Remove the treats from the oven and let them cool on a cooling rack before serving.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Always remember, these are treats, not a complete diet. Introduce new treats gradually, and consult your veterinarian if your dog has any health issues or allergies.
Variations:
- Substitute with almond butter for a nut-free alternative if your dog is allergic to peanuts.
- Add grated carrots or blueberries for an extra nutrient boost.
- Use oat flour instead of whole wheat flour for a gluten-free option.
