Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the *pumpkin puree*, *natural peanut butter*, *egg*, and *olive oil*. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add in the *whole wheat flour* and *rolled oats*, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little water until it holds together.
- Sprinkle a clean surface with flour and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out treats in your desired shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Remove the treats from the oven and let them cool on a cooling rack before serving.
Notes
Storage & Reheating:
Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Always remember, these are treats, not a complete diet. Introduce new treats gradually, and consult your veterinarian if your dog has any health issues or allergies. Variations:
- Substitute with almond butter for a nut-free alternative if your dog is allergic to peanuts.
- Add grated carrots or blueberries for an extra nutrient boost.
- Use oat flour instead of whole wheat flour for a gluten-free option.
