Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup plain peanut butter with no xylitol
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon optional

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Cookie cutters
  • 1 Grater or food processor

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, and cinnamon (if using). Mix well to incorporate the dry ingredients.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the grated carrots, applesauce, peanut butter, water, and egg until combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, you can add a little more water.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  8. Allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack before serving them to your pup.
