Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana mashed
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter no xylitol
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt unsweetened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup low-fat cream cheese for topping, optional
  • 1 teaspoon honey optional, for topping

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Electric mixer or whisk
  • 1 Measuring cups
  • 1 Measuring spoons
  • 1 Cupcake liners
  • 1 Muffin tin
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Piping bag (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed banana, natural peanut butter, plain yogurt, and egg. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and baking soda.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each liner about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, allow the pupcakes to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the optional cream cheese topping, mix the low-fat cream cheese and honey in a small bowl until smooth. Once the pupcakes are fully cooled, use a piping bag to decorate the top with the cream cheese mixture.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the pupcakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, they can be frozen for up to 3 months. Remember, these are treats and should be fed in moderation. Always consult with your veterinarian if you have concerns about your dog’s diet.
Variations:
- Substitute apple sauce for banana for a different flavor.
- Add blueberries to the batter for a fruity twist.
- Use pumpkin puree instead of banana for a seasonal treat.
- Top with plain yogurt instead of cream cheese for a lighter option.
